Frequently asked questions
Here you will find answers to the questions we are asked most often about our language holiday programmes.
How do I know which language level is right for me?
Before your course starts you take our online placement test, which determines your current level according to the Common European Framework of Reference (A1–C2). We then place you in the matching class. If you are a complete beginner, you start at A1.
What is included in the course fee?
The course fee covers all lessons as stated, course materials, a final certificate, access to the online learning platform and participation in the free activities of our cultural programme. Accommodation and meals are not included in the standard course price unless explicitly stated (for example in some teenager and junior programmes).
Do I need a visa to attend a course?
Whether you need a visa depends on your nationality and the length of your stay. EU citizens do not need one. Citizens of non-EU countries should check with the German embassy or consulate. Courses longer than 90 days usually require a student visa. We support you with a letter of enrolment for your visa application.
Can you help me find accommodation?
Yes. We offer several options — host families, shared flats, student residences and hotels. You can choose your preferred type of accommodation when you book your course. Prices vary by location and type of accommodation.
What happens if I have to cancel my course?
If you cancel more than 30 days before the course starts, you receive a full refund minus an administration fee of 75 €. Between 15 and 30 days before the start, the refund is 70%. For cancellations less than 15 days before the start, the refund is 50%. Please note that no refunds are possible once the course has started. We recommend taking out travel insurance that covers course cancellations.
Are there age limits for the courses?
Our regular adult courses are designed for participants aged 18 and over. For younger students between 12 and 17 we run special junior programmes with individual support and age-appropriate activities. Family programmes are designed for children under 12, so that parents and children can learn together.
How many students are there in a class?
Our standard courses take a maximum of 12 students per class, so that every learner receives proper attention from the teacher. Our international groups bring together participants from Europe, Latin America, Asia and North Africa. Intensive and specialised courses usually run in smaller groups of 8–10 students. We also offer private lessons for fully personalised tuition.
Can I extend my course if I want to stay longer?
Certainly — you can extend your course as long as places are available. Please let our office know as early as possible so that we can make the necessary arrangements. The cost of the extension follows our current rates.
